A New Plate, A New Chapter: Zelostech Advances Autonomous Logistics in the UAE
Abu Dhabi, UAE — September 2026 — Zelostech, a global autonomous logistics infrastructure provider, has transitioned its autonomous vehicles operating in Abu Dhabi to the emirate’s newly introduced dedicated licence plate system for autonomous vehicles, marking another step in the company’s continued integration into Abu Dhabi’s evolving autonomous mobility ecosystem.
Introduced by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) under the supervision of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, the new licence plate framework distinguishes autonomous vehicles operating in testing and pilot programmes from those providing commercial autonomous services. Vehicles participating in testing and pilot programmes carry “Test” plates. The unified blue design enables autonomous vehicles to be readily identified on the road and supports more effective field monitoring and road safety management.
From Vehicle Testing to a Complete Autonomous Mobility Ecosystem
Abu Dhabi has been developing a structured framework for autonomous vehicle deployment that extends beyond vehicle testing. In November 2025, Abu Dhabi Mobility introduced the Autonomous Vehicles Integrated Testing, Operations and Management System (AViTOMS), a centralised platform designed to manage the full lifecycle of autonomous vehicle activities, from registration, applications and permitting through testing, operational supervision, technical data analysis and commercial operations.
The emirate’s dedicated licence plate system represents another layer of this evolving framework. According to Abu Dhabi Mobility, the plates are linked to approved licensing and operational requirements and are intended to support the identification, monitoring and management of autonomous vehicles as deployment expands. The operational data generated through the system is also expected to support the continued development of policies and regulations for the sector.
This evolution is an important foundation for moving autonomous logistics from technology demonstrations toward repeatable commercial operations. With autonomous logistics applications requiring different operating environments, vehicle classes, routes, and operational models from passenger mobility, Zelostech believes that regulatory frameworks will benefit from continued engagement with technology providers and operators that are generating real-world deployment experience.
Working with Regulators to Build the Next Generation of Autonomous Logistics
Zelostech is committed to working alongside Abu Dhabi authorities and industry stakeholders as the emirate continues to refine its autonomous mobility framework.
The company believes that effective autonomous vehicle regulation should evolve through a combination of clear safety requirements, measurable operational standards, real-world testing, continuous data collection and structured industry-government dialogue.
